Frequently Asked Questions
What is FlyStandby?
FlyStandby.app is a travel tool designed to help aviation industry employees (non-revs) and flexible travelers gauge their chances of getting on a flight.
Who is this app for?
The app is primarily built for:
- Airline Employees & Retirees (Non-Rev): To check seat availability and "listing" counts across different airlines.
- Buddy Pass Riders: To monitor flights and avoid getting stuck at the gate.
Can I book tickets via FlyStandby?
No. FlyStandby.app is an informational tool. We provide the data you need to plan your trip, but all bookings, listings, and check-ins must be done directly through the airline's official website or app. We are also not associated with myID Travel.
Where does the flight data come from?
We aggregate data from global distribution systems (GDS) for flight schedules and available seats for sale. Actual flight loads are provided by other airline employees. While no third-party tool can be 100% perfect due to last-minute operational changes, our data is optimized for high accuracy.
Can I see the exact number of open seats?
For most airlines, we display the number of seats available for sale in each cabin (Economy, Business, First). This number does not indicate the actual number of available seats, but is still a valuable tool for travel planning. The exact number of empty seats can be requested with flight loads.
Is FlyStandby.app free to use?
Flight search and travel planning tools are available for free. Requesting exact flight loads costs credits (starting from 200 SkyCredits). Upon registration you receive 400 free SkyCredits, and an additional 800 SkyCredits when you verify your airline employment (1,200 total). You can earn more by answering load requests, referring friends, or directly purchasing them.
